Gaza authorities let go three Italians held at UN office

The Palestinian ministry of interior in Gaza has announced that the three Italians who were detained at a UN office in Gaza after arousing suspicion were let go.

“In the past few hours investigations were conducted by the security apparatuses about a suspicious car carrying three Italians who happened to be in an area where a shooting incident happened on Monday morning and entered the UNSCO headquarters in Gaza City after chasing them” spokesman for the ministry Iyad al-Buzom stated in a press release at dawn Wednesday.

“Through the investigations the identities of the three Italians and the procedures of their entry to the Gaza Strip were verified and it was found that the car had nothing to do with the shooting incident” Buzom added.

The spokesman expressed his ministry’s thanks to the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process Nikolay Mladinov the Italian consulate in Occupied Jerusalem and ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi head of the Qatari committee for the reconstruction of Gaza for their role in helping the security authorities in Gaza complete their investigations.
