Gaza employees pause protests following deal with UNRWA

Monday 28-November-2016

The Union of UNRWA Employees in Gaza has decided to suspend its protest steps for 10 days following an agreement with the agency’s administration.

The Union told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) on Sunday that it agreed in a meeting with the UNRWA Commissioner General to freeze all protests in order to give the agency a chance to study all problems and come up with solutions.

Head of the Union Suhail al-Hindi explained that the commissioner for his part approved giving permanent teaching positions for 200 teachers under contract and pledged to take a similar step next January.

Hindi added that the Commissioner would also form a committee to study all outstanding issues during a period of 10 days and propose solutions.
