Palestinian public employees in the Gaza Strip held a general strike on Tuesday for not receiving their unpaid salaries in early December as agreed.
The Syndicate of Public Employees said that the strike came in protest against the Palestinian unity government’s failure to shoulder its responsibilities towards Gaza public employees as agreed during the reconciliation deal between Fatah and Hamas Movements in Cairo on October 12.
The President of Syndicate in Gaza Yacub al-Ghandour declared a series of protests in the near future.
“If we do not receive our salaries like the other employees we will call for the departure of the government.”
“We will work to take our rights with all means possible” he added.
