Gaza teachers union announced a strike in all public schools ministries and directorates in the Gaza Strip in protest at the Palestinian Authority (PA) government’s disregard for the rights of Gaza employees.
The union said in a statement on Monday that the strike comes in rejection of salary cuts forced retirement policy and other sanctions imposed by the PA government on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The PA government persists in evading its obligations toward Gaza especially its employees which were stipulated in the reconciliation agreement signed in October 2017. Moreover the government still refuses to lift the punitive measures which have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory.
