General strike declared within the Green Line

Wednesday 7-June-2017

A general strike was declared Wednesday morning within the Green Line in protest against the cold-blooded execution of 20-year-old Mohamed Taha by Israeli police in Kafr Kasem.

The Arab Follow-Up Committee has earlier held Israeli authorities responsible for the killing of Taha earlier Tuesday.

The committee also called for mass demonstrations throughout the country on Thursday and to focus on the escalated police violence during Friday sermons.

Tension has been running high in Kafr Kasem after the Israeli police forces aggressively attacked the Palestinian youths with live rounds teargas canisters and rubber bullets killing Taha and wounding others before imposing a curfew on the town. Dozens of protesters were arrested in the process.

General strike declared within the Green Line

Thursday 19-January-2017

A general strike and mourning were declared within the Green Line following the Israeli police deadly raid into Um al-Hiran village in Negev on Wednesday.

The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee declared a general strike and three days of mourning in protest against Israeli barbaric attack on al-Hiran Bedouin village.

Student protests are also scheduled to be held throughout Arab communities after a resident of Um al-Hiran was shot and killed by Israeli police during the demolition of eight Palestinian homes.

The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee is expected to meet today in Nazareth to follow up the recent developments and Israeli serious escalation.

Head of the committee Ali Baraka had earlier called for international protection for the Arab community within the Green Line in light of the ongoing Israeli racist campaign.
