A general strike has prevailed on Saturday in the occupied city of Jerusalem in mourning for the martyrs who were killed on Friday during Jerusalem protests. The Jerusalemites have been protesting for the second week in a row the installation of metal detectors at the entrances to al-Aqsa Mosque in an attempt to impose new Israeli measures on the holy site.
Commercial shops have been closed since the morning hours in response to the calls for general strike which was voiced by Jerusalmite figures who demanded the escalation of protests until the removal of the metal detectors.
Muslim worshipers have been performing their daily prayer for eight consecutive days outside al-Aqsa Mosque in protest at the installation of the metal detectors.
