A general strike was declared on Thursday morning across the West Bank and Jerusalem in mourning for martyr Uday at-Tamimi who was killed yesterday evening during armed clashes with Israeli security guards at the entrance of the illegal settlement of Ma’ale Adumim.
Businesses schools and different facilities observed the strike and shut down their doors in different areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem.
Palestinian resistance factions had called for the strike and a day of clashes on Thursday with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) across the occupied territories.
Different areas of Jerusalem and the West Bank saw marches last night most of them held spontaneously to pay tribute to martyr Uday at-Tamimi.
Overnight clashes between local youths and the IOF reportedly took place in some areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem.
Meanwhile the Arin al-Osoud (Lions’ Den) armed group said at dawn Thursday that its resistance fighters carried out three shooting operations against the IOF in different areas of Nablus province.
In the Gaza Strip a day of mourning for martyr Tamimi will be observed today and citizens have been invited to go to the Unknown Soldier Square to honor and pay tribute to the martyr.
On October 8 Tamimi allegedly opened fire at the Shuafat checkpoint killing an Israeli female soldier and severely wounding a security guard before disappearing.
Soon later the IOF placed a cordon around the Shuafat refugee camp and also besieged other Palestinian areas in East Jerusalem as the manhunt for the shooter dragged on for days.
