General strike sweeps 1948 Occupied Palestine over Israeli bloodshed

Wednesday 16-May-2018

A general strike has been observed in Arab towns and villages across territories occupied in 1948 (Israel) to protest the bloodshed and brutal killing committed the Israeli military against unarmed Palestinian protesters on the Gaza border.

The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee said a general strike has been called for Wednesday in Arab communities throughout Israel in response to the Israeli massacre.

The committee urged the international community to speak up for the Palestinians and take a firm stance against Israel’s unabated terrorism carried out under a US shield.

Hundreds of Palestinians turned out en masse on the Gaza border to protest the US embassy transfer to Occupied Jerusalem and take part in the 70th anniversary of the Nakba or “catastrophe” an event which led to the displacement of thousands of Palestinians from their homeland by the Israeli occupation in 1948.

Dozens of Palestinians were killed and thousands more wounded in aggressive attacks by the Israeli military on the Gaza border on Monday sparking condemnations from across the world as Israeli and US leaders convened in Occupied Jerusalem for the official opening of the U.S. Embassy.

The Trump administration on Monday blocked a UN Security Council statement that was intended to call for an investigation into the Israeli crimes on the Gaza border.

The statement circulated by Kuwait was supposed to include an expression of rage and sorrow on behalf of the Security Council over Monday’s death toll. However the U.S. blocked it from being adopted and published.
