The leader of the Tunisian Ennahda movement Sheikh Rachid al-Ghannouchi stated that his movement is proud of the martyr Mohammed al-Zouari stressing that Israel must be prosecuted and fined for all the crimes it committed in Tunisia.
Ghannouchi said in statements published on Tuesday on his Facebook page that the Tunisian government’s official reaction to the assassination of engineer al-Zouari was calm and discreet affirming that Ennahda movement had no knowledge of the relation between al-Zouari and the Palestinian resistance and that the martyr was never an active member of the movement in exile.
However he asserted “We are proud of Mohamed al-Zouari”.
He continued “Hamas is a resistance movement and there is no doubt that the Israeli Mossad stands behind the assassination” adding that condemnation is not enough and Israel must be prosecuted and fined even for the earlier crimes committed in Tunisia.
The Prime Minister of Tunisia Yousuf al-Chahid declared earlier that the government is not willing to let the crime go without punishment.
Mohammed al-Zouari a Tunisian flight engineer born in 1967 worked on a project for manufacturing and developing drones for Hamas’s armed wing the Qassam Brigades.
He was assassinated in his hometown Sfax on 15th December 2016. The Qassam Brigades held the Israel Mossad responsible for the crime.
