Sheikh Mohammed Hussein the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories and al-Aqsa Mosque preacher condemned on Wednesday the racist slogans and insults against prophet Mohammed which a number of extremist Jews from the Price Tag gang wrote on walls and vehicles in Shu’fat town to the north of Occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday.
Sheikh Hussein considered this racist act an attack on the sanctity of prophets and the religious freedom which would bring more hatred and violence to the region. He called for enacting an international law that criminalizes insulting prophets and holds those who commit this disgraceful act accountable.
In another context Hussein denounced the settlers’ daily incursions into the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque and attacks against its guards and students under the protection of the Israeli police in disregard for the Muslims’ feelings and the international conventions which prohibit harming the places of worship.
Hussein condemned in a statement the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation’s approval of the “Nationality Law” which is a racist law aimed at expelling the indigenous people of the Palestinian land and wiping out the Palestinian national identity.
He touched on the suffering of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and called on the entire world to support their hunger strike and pressure the Israel Prison Service to meet their demands and stop its racist practices against them.
