The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria said that the Syrian security services are holding the bodies of more than 456 Palestinian refugees who were killed under torture in the Syrian jails and accused them of working for international networks trafficking in human organs.
In a report on Saturday the Group said that the monitoring and documentation team managed only to count 456 of the Palestinian refugees who got killed under torture. The report revealed that the real number is likely larger due to the absence of any official statistics issued by the Syrian regime.
The Group pointed out that some families of the detainees and victims fear to disclose such cases because they are scared of the Syrian security services’ reaction.
A number of Palestinian human rights activists said that hiding the bodies of the victims is another crime added to the series of crimes committed by the Syrian regime and its security services.
They stressed that the Fourth Geneva Convention The Hague Convention and Rome Statute which established the International Criminal Court stipulate that violating the dignity of the living and the dead is considered a war crime.
The activists proposed internationalizing the case and file it with international courts and human rights institutions and asked for forcing the Syrian regime to reveal the fate of the Palestinian detainees in its jails return the bodies of those who got killed under torture and release those who are still alive.
According to the testimonies of ex-detainees and dissident security agents it was affirmed that some security agents and officers of the Syrian regime have relations with networks for human organs trafficking.
As the Group reported the dead bodies are burned with acid after the organs are harvested. Women children and elderly people are among the victims 77 of whom were identified in leaked photos of torture victims in the Syrian jails.
