The Jerusalemite activist Hanadi Halawani on Saturday warned of a plan prepared by the Jewish settlers to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque on the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah month to mark the so-called “anniversary of the destruction of the Temple.”
Halawani called for maintaining vigil to confront this incursion stressing that experience has proven that I’tikaf (staying in a mosque) is the most effective way to repel such attacks.
She pointed out that the settlers are seeking to avenge the failed storming of Al-Aqsa last Ramadan during the Flags March.
The activist pointed out that the settlers plan to defile Al-Aqsa in large numbers perform public mass rituals there and show their sovereignty over it by raising flags and singing the national anthem.
Palestinian activists and movements in the 1948 occupied Palestinian lands called for intensifying Palestinians’ presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The settler groups and the Israeli police escalated the storming of the holy Islamic site and the restrictions on Muslim worshipers in recent months.
In the past few days settlers toured the northern area of Al-Aqsa Mosque for the first such time under the protection of the occupation police.
