Hamas’ delegation expected in Cairo Tuesday

Damascus- Well informed Palestinian sources have affirmed that a delegation from Hamas Movement is expected in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Tuesday to meet and discuss with Egyptian officials political developments in the Palestinian arena.

Egypt invited five Palestinian resistance factions including Hamas Fatah Islamic Jihad the PFLP and the DFLP for talks on ways and means to prevent recurrence of internecine fighting in the Palestinian arena in addition to striking truce deal with Israel.

Egypt however will talk to each of the factions individually the sources affirmed.

Dr. Mousa Abu Marzook the deputy-head of Hamas’ political bureau is expected to head the Movement’s delegation that would comprise Hamas figures from inside occupied Palestine and from those living abroad sources close to the Movement revealed to the PIC.

Hamas’ visit came after the Movement received an official invitation from the Egyptian leadership in this regard as Ayman Taha the Movement’s representative in the factional joint office asserted that Hamas was championing any step that would help consolidate Palestinian internal front.

Fatah delegation headed by former PLC speaker and PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’ close associate Rohi Fatouh had arrived to Egypt last Saturday.

But the sources didn’t rule out a Hamas-Fatah meeting next week as a prelude for a comprehensive national dialogue under Cairo’s patronage.

Further more PIC exclusive sources learnt that Rashid Abu Shebak the PA internal security director was in Cairo to discuss his resignation from the apparatus with Egyptian officials and that Fatah MP Mohammed Dahalan is expected to participate in the talks.

Former PA interior minister Hani Al-Kawasmi had relinquished his post last month charging a number of PA security heads including Abu Shebak among other security officers of derailing the implementation of his security plan to restore law and order in the Palestinian arena.
