Hamas: Ein Hilweh strife serves Israeli occupation unity is the key

Wednesday 1-March-2017

Hamas on Wednesday condemned the security mayhem rocking Ein al-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon saying it rather serves the Israeli interests.

Speaking with al-Quds TV Channel Hamas representative in Lebanon Ali Baraka said the deteriorating security situation in the camp resulted in “a security vacuum” from which the enemies have taken advantage.

Baraka reiterated Hamas’s commitment to unity as the only means to restore calm in Ein al-Hilweh.

The Hamas leader further called on all parties to abide by the decisions made by the unified political leadership adding that “any attempt to destabilize civil peace in Lebanon or break the Lebanese law is just unacceptable for Hamas.”

Baraka said serious efforts have been on full swing by Hamas to push for a cessation of hostilities and to boost the Lebanese-Palestinian fraternity ties.

He further appealed for comprehensive Lebanese-Palestinian talks tackling bilateral issues and paving the way for a practical strategy to back up Palestinians’ right to return to their motherland—Palestine.

Recently deadly clashes between Fatah gunmen and Islamic fighters flared up in Ein al-Hilweh Camp for Palestinian refugees in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon.
