Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said that Fatah’s insistence on starving the Gaza population retaining the sanctions on them and not severing its security ties with the Israeli occupation state contradicts its claims about rejecting the US-backed deal of the century.
“Gaza will not remain hostage to the Fatah siege which is no less heinous than the Israeli blockade” Abu Zuhri stated in Twitter remarks.
In April 2017 the Ramallah-based government started at the behest of Palestinian Authority (PA) president and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas to impose several sanctions on Gaza.
Those punitive measures included shrinking salaries for thousands of civil servants depriving patients of receiving treatment abroad reducing the power supply and cutting off medical supplies.
