The German president’s statement that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has no jurisdiction over Israeli crimes is a violation of the international law Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said on Thursday.
It also constitutes a shameless bias in favor of Israel and its aggressive policies against the Palestinian people he added.
Qassem said in a press release that the German president’s position encourages Israel to persist in its crimes and aggressions and makes it a state above the law.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has said that he strongly opposes an investigation into Israeli war crimes against Palestinians. He claimed that the ICC has no jurisdiction over Israel.
