Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movements stressed on Thursday evening their commitment to armed resistance until every single inch of Israeli-occupied Palestine is liberated.
Speaking during a ceremony to mourn the victims of the deadly Israeli strike on a resistance tunnel south of besieged Gaza Strip Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahhar said armed resistance will keep going until the liberation of Palestine.
“Any attempt to rob our resistance rifle is just a sign of insanity” said al-Zahhar as he hailed al-Qassam and al-Saraya brigades who have stood their ground despite the deadly Israeli aggressions.
“The day shall come when the Palestinian resistance will wipe the floor with the faces of the Israeli colonizers” he said. “We are trying every possible effort to dig deep underground and make our fighters reach our occupied lands.”
Al-Qassam Brigades also hailed the victim Mesbah Shbeir saying his intrinsic sense of self-negation has just been legendary throughout drills for anti-occupation operations against the Israeli army.
Al-Qassam harked back to an Israeli strike on a resistance tunnel in early July 2014 which claimed the lives of six Palestinians. At the time Shbeir saved a resistance fighter from the debris of the aggression in an act still honored to date.
Islamic Jihad leader Nafed Azzam also said armed resistance is Palestinians’ sole means to defend themselves against the Israeli occupation.
He added that the message sent by the tunnel victims is that Palestinians are ready to sacrifice their lives and souls for the sake of their motherland.
He lauded Hamas’s recent efforts in favor of national reconciliation most notably its decision to disband Gaza’s administrative committee and hand over crossing points to the Palestinian Authority.
“We will do our best to prop up unity and face up to whoever dares threaten our security and grab our holy sites” stated Azzam.
The Islamic Jihad leader stressed the need to speak out so loud against the Balfour centenary which he said marks a moment in history when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had been displaced from their native soil.
