Senior Hamas official Abdul-Jabbar Sa’eid has applauded the Palestinian citizens who marched en masse to the Aqsa Mosque for prayers during the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan and called for continuing to perform I’tikaf (religious retreat) at the Islamic holy site until the end of the month.
In a statement on Tuesday Sa’eid affirmed that the recent Palestinian success in thwarting settler plots against the Aqsa Mosque entails more support from the Palestinians in the West Bank and 1948 occupied Palestine for their compatriots in Jerusalem and at the Aqsa Mosque.
“The occupation regime is carrying out ongoing aggression against the Aqsa Mosque that goes in harmony with its criminal nature and its failure to fulfill its commitments” the Hamas official said.
“Despite its announced decision to prevent settler break-ins [at the Aqsa Mosque] its soldiers continue to storm it assault defenseless worshipers and prevent them from practicing their religion and I’tikaf” he added describing such Israeli practices as “flagrant violations of all earthly and heavenly laws.”
He stressed the need for responding forcefully to such “criminal behavior” by the occupation igniting the ground under its feet and starting an all-out uprising against it across the West Bank.
