Hamas: Israeli ban on Muslim call to prayer sign of “racism”

Sunday 12-February-2017

Hamas slammed on Sunday the Israeli occupation government for approving a bid to ban Muslim call to prayer (Adhan) dubbing it an attempt to obliterate Palestinians’ Arab and Islamic identity.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Kassem said in a Facebook statement: “The law makes part of Israeli policies aiming to wipe out the Palestinian land and people.”

Kassem dubbed the bid a sign of racism perpetrated by the Israeli occupation government against the Palestinians.

“Such policies will only make us more committed to our rights and identity” said the Hamas official. “The Palestinians will keep going until every single inch of their land is liberated.”

On Sunday afternoon the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation has approved a draft resolution which will go to a preliminary vote in the Knesset to ban the Muslim call to prayer being broadcast through mosque loudspeakers.
