The Hamas Movement has applauded the shooting operation in Jerusalem and said it confirms that the Palestinian people will not allow the Israeli occupation to persist in its aggression against the holy city.
In press remarks Hamas spokesman Mohamed Hamada said that today’s shooting operation and the stabbing operation that had been carried out by martyr Omar Abu Asab a few days ago in Jerusalem vindicated further the Palestinian people’s adherence to the resistance option.
Hamada described the shooting operation in Jerusalem as “a security breach message to the Israeli enemy” affirming that such heroic operations would continue to take place in response to the occupation state’s attempts to divide the Aqsa Mosque spatially and temporally.
A Jerusalemite man was shot dead on Sunday morning after he opened fire at a group of Jewish settlers in the Old City near the Aqsa Mosque on Sunday morning killing one of them and injuring others including two police officers.
The shooter was identified as Fadi Abu Shkhaydam a teacher from Shuafat refugee camp in east Jerusalem.
