Hamas spokesman Husam Badran has condemned the Palestinian Authority (PA) security apparatuses for intensifying its politically motivated arrest campaign against citizens in the West Bank and torturing detainees in their jails.
Badran stressed on Monday that “the PA security forces’ escalation of their arrest campaign and their reported use of torture against cadres of the resistance factions especially those from the Hamas Movement can no longer be tolerated.”
He affirmed that the exposure of student Osaid al-Wardiyan to abuse at the hands of PA intelligence interrogators and his suffering from a heart attack as a result of that was a “grave incident.”
He also accused the PA intelligence of torturing journalist Sami al-Sa’ie in its Ariha jail in the West Bank because of his involvement in journalistic activities.
The spokesman called on all Palestinian factions to clarify their positions on the violations committed by the PA against freedoms in the West Bank.
