The Hamas Movement has affirmed that the Palestinian resistance which excelled in achieving the Wafa al-Ahrar deal in 2011 is capable of imposing a new prisoner swap deal on the Israeli occupation state.
This came in a statement on 16th anniversary of the 2006 Gaza cross-border operation that led to the capture of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
“On June 25 our people remember one of the moments of their victory over the enemy when Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was captured and held for five full years before reaching the Wafa al-Ahrar deal that led to the liberation of 1027 male and female prisoners” Hamas said.
The Movement paid tribute to the “heroic martyrs” who carried out the 2006 operation and all those who planned it.
It also warned the occupation state of persisting in its violations against the Palestinian prisoners in its jails expressing its confidence that their exposure to suppression at the hands of Israeli jailers would not break their steadfastness and will.
