BEIRUT (PIC)– The Hamas Movement has appealed to the regional and international human relief agencies especially UNRWA to extend urgent relief material to Palestinian refugees in Nahr el-Bared north of Lebanon to avoid a human catastrophe.

In the framework of its own relief efforts Hamas started on Wednesday a massive relief campaign for thousands of Palestinian refugees displaced from the Nahr el-Bared camp besides 35000 refugees still residing inside that camp.

According to a statement by the Movement Hamas opened interim follow-up offices for the registration of displaced refugees and for providing them with relief services and appealed to all Lebanese parties to allow the entry of human relief material into the camp.

Meanwhile Ali Barakah Hamas public relations official in Lebanon confirmed Hamas’ condemnation of the attacks on the Lebanese army stating that security and stability in Lebanon is in favor of the Palestinian cause. He also appealed to all concerned parties to protect the Palestinian refugees.

In the same context UNRWA said that it completed successfully the transfer of 2353 Palestinian families who fled from Nahr el-Bared camp to safer areas in Lebanon.
