Hamas asks Ramallah authority to immediately release liberated prisoner

Monday 20-July-2009

RAMALLAH (PIC)– Hamas on Monday condemned the Ramallah authority for the kidnapping of liberated prisoner Khalil Ali Amer who is also the director of the prisoners’ supporters society in Ramallah district.

Hamas in a statement in the West Bank said that Amer who is one of the Movement’s leaders was kidnapped from his home in Jalazone refugee camp on Sunday.

It added that the kidnapping of one of its leaders was clear evidence that the authority run by former PA chief Mahmoud Abbas was still targeting Hamas’s supporters and leaders without any concern with Egyptian and Arab efforts aimed at success of the national dialog.

Hamas said that such an attitude was the main impediment before any real progress in reaching a final agreement ending the internal Palestinian rift.

Meanwhile Abbas’s security forces continued on Sunday their arrest campaigns in lines of Hamas supporters in the West Bank kidnapping five citizens in the districts of Qalqilia Tulkarem and Jenin including the son of Talal Al-Baz one of the Hamas leaders who is serving a 20-year sentence in Israeli occupation jails.
