Hamas asks the world community to rectify wrongs done to Palestinians

Thursday 30-November-2006

Gaza – The Hamas Movement on Wednesday described as null and void the UN resolution on the partitioning of Palestine that was adopted in 1947 and all ensuing measures.

Hamas in a statement on the anniversary of that resolution that was passed on 29/11/1947 said that the resolution was legally and morally unacceptable.

It said that the UN and the world community shoulder the responsibility for the Palestinian people’s suffering ever since endorsement of that resolution that led to the creation of Israel on the land of Palestine.

The international connivance and regional collusion had reached an unprecedented limit in its bias to the Israeli occupation that was left to commit massacres against the Palestinian people without fearing even a reprimand the Movement charged.

Hamas rebuked Israeli premier Ehud Olmert for offering a Palestinian state on a big area of the West Bank (and the Gaza Strip) in return for giving up the Palestinian refugees’ right of return (RoR) and acceptance of signed agreements.

It said that the Palestinians would accept no less than a fully sovereign Palestinian state on all 1967 occupied lands and would never surrender RoR.

In a similar statement on the same occasion the PA ministry of refugees’ affairs said on Wednesday that Olmert’s speech aimed at deceiving the world into believing that he was a man of peace at a time his war machine was wreaking havoc in Palestinian lands.

It affirmed that the major battle with the Hebrew state was now over RoR adding that the Israeli deceitful statements would not weaken the Palestinians’ insistence on their rights.

The return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland and compensating them should be the first step towards rectifying the UN’s historic wrong the ministry said opining that ending Israeli occupation of Palestine was the only means towards stability in the Middle East region and the world at large.
