The Hamas Movement has called for international action to expose and end Israel’s violations and crimes against the Palestinian prisoners in its jails.
This came in a statement released by Hamas on Saturday on the occasion of the “International Day in Support of Victims of Torture” which is observed annually on June 26.
Hamas said that the UN observance of this international day “constitutes an opportunity to expose the torture crimes that are committed against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and to highlight the size of their ongoing suffering.”
It affirmed that many Palestinian prisoners including children women and patients suffer from serious health problems as a result of their exposure to different types of physical and psychological torture at the hands of Israeli jailers.
The Movement stressed the need for international action to pressure Israel to stop its violations and crimes against the Palestinian prisoners.
The UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture is an international observance held annually to speak out against the crime of torture and to honor and support victims and survivors throughout the world.
