The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas denounced on Friday the attack on Egyptian soldiers in Sinai as a terrorist assault.
The spokesman of Hamas Fawzi Barhoum said in a press statement that “The attack in Sinai is a criminal and cowardly terrorist aggression that doesn’t target Egypt only but the security and stability of the entire Arab nation”.
“These crimes do not serve but the enemies of Egypt and the enemies of the Muslim and Arab nation” Barhoum highlighted.
The Hamas leader extended his movement’s condolences to Egypt and the Egyptian people and wished them safety and peace.
Earlier on Friday the Egyptian forces announced the murder and injury of 26 soldiers in a terrorist attack at a checkpoint north of Sinai.
The Egyptian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the attack came after the Egyptian armed forces foiled a terrorist offensive. The strikes took place south of Rafah and killed 40 militants and damaged six vehicles.
