The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced Israel’s deportation of Human Rights Watch (HRW) representative Omar Shaker describing the step as a dangerous precedent targeting the work of human rights groups.
“The deportation reflects a state of oppression and hostility being practiced against rights and humanitarian institutions by the occupation in light of its failure to face the reality and the enormity of the violations and crimes it commits on a daily basis against our Palestinian people” Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in press remarks on Monday.
Spokesman Barhoum added that such behavior was aimed at hiding the truce face of the Israeli occupation and its daily oppressive practices from the world and international community.
He expressed hope that such Israeli steps would lead to more international attention to the Palestinian people’s rights and practical moves to hold Israel accountable for its violations and crimes.
