Hamas condemns kidnap of minister describes IOF aggression as racial cleansing

Saturday 26-May-2007

NABLUS (PIC)– The Hamas Movement described the Israeli kidnap of PA minister of state Wasfi Kabaha as a “crime against international law” while Hamas’ parliamentary spokesman described ongoing Israeli attacks and abductions as “racial cleansing” against Hamas.

The Hamas statement in the West Bank on Saturday urged countries championing democracy to immediately bridle the Israeli practices and to force it to release the kidnapped elected PA officials.

The Movement further explained that the Israeli frenzied military and arrest campaign against Hamas was meant to weaken Hamas; yet the Movement added Hamas is hard to be wiped out or marginalized in the Palestinian street.

Racial cleansing:
But spokesman of Hamas’ parliamentary bloc in the PLC Dr. Salah Al-Bardaweel went even further as he described Israeli deliberate bombarding of civilian positions and arresting Palestinian lawmakers and ministers as “racial cleansing” to subdue Hamas and to eliminate it from the Palestinian political scene.

“Hamas doesn’t derive its strength from being in government; but rather from the broad popular base it enjoys among the Palestinian people and its homogenous formation and presence in the Palestinian social and economic structure” the MP asserted.

He asserted that at the end victory will be for the Palestinian people in spite of the relentless Israeli efforts to sideline the Palestinian question and to strangle the Palestinian people’s aspiration for independence.

Similar remarks were uttered by Bardaweel’s colleague MP Mushir Al-Masri of Hamas who put the ongoing Israeli military campaign against Hamas and the unsanctioned arrest of its political figures in the West Bank in the framework of an “international conspiracy” to overthrow Hamas by force.
