Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Friday condemned a gun attack on Coptic Christians in Minya governorate in Egypt. Hamas opined that the attack aimed at inciting sectarian strife in the country.
In a press statement the Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said “Killing Copts in Egypt is a heinous crime that is strongly condemned”.
“This attack targets the security and stability of Egypt as well as the unity of the Egyptian people through raising sectarian strife” Barhoum said.
Earlier on Friday twenty-four people were killed and 27 wounded in a gun attack on a bus carrying Coptic Christians south of Cairo according to the Egyptian Health Ministry.
