Hamas condemns massacre against Palestinian refugees in Iraq

Wednesday 14-March-2007

GAZA (PIC)– The Hamas Movement on Wednesday strongly condemned the massacres against Palestinian refugees in Iraq especially the one committed earlier today during which four of them were killed at the hands of Iraqi and American troops.

Hamas asked all those concerned including the international institutions and the human rights groups to provide protection for those refugees and to prevent recurrence of such attacks.

The Movement noted that ever since the American occupation of that Arab country the Palestinian refugees there were the targets of repeated assaults that killed dozens while scores others disappeared.

It pointed out that those refugees were the targets of more than 30 violent assaults during the past month of February that killed 8 of them while 15 others were kidnapped bringing the total number of those killed to 500 since the American occupation of that country.

Hamas has exerted strenuous efforts to provide protection for those refugees the Movement said adding that the new massacre aimed at aborting those efforts.

It renewed affirmation that those refugees are residing temporarily in Iraq due to the occupation of their lands and that they are not party to any conflict in Iraq.

For its part the Islamic Jihad Movement warned that the attacks on those refugees targeted wiping out their right of return to their original homeland.

Walid Hillis a Jihad spokesman in Gaza said in a press release that the daily murder in lines of Palestinians in Iraq at the hands of sectarian “death squads” only served the Zionist-American policy of canceling their right of return.
