Hamas criticizes EU for insisting on keeping it on terror list

Tuesday 20-January-2015

GAZA (PIC)– Hamas said the European Union’s insistence on retaining the Movement on its list of terrorism would provide Israel with a cover-up to persist in its crimes describing the EU position as “a reflection of its bias in favor of the Israeli occupation.”

However the Movement in a press release expressed its belief that the general mood of the European peoples rejects such EU position.

This came in the wake of news reports claiming that the EU intends to appeal against the removal of Hamas from Europe’s terror list that had been issued last month as a verdict by the European Court of Justice.

The European Court of Justice stated in its verdict on Hamas that the 2003 decision that listed Hamas as a terror organization was based on a wrong assessment and that Hamas was elected legitimately and thus the EU according to its regulations was not allowed to interfere in the affairs of other countries.

The verdict also said that the EU had not provided then any explanation to justify the decision it had made about Hamas.
