Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya accompanied by a senior Hamas delegation met on Friday morning with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.
Haneyya extended his congratulations to Aoun on the success of Lebanon’s parliamentary elections reaffirming the necessity of security and stability to prevail in the country.
During the meeting the Hamas chief addressed the developments concerning Palestine Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in addition to the repeated violations by the Israeli occupation authority against Muslim and Christian holy sites.
Haneyya pointed to the political changes that are taking place in the region and the attempts to forge regional realignments through normalization which require strengthening the Arab position in the face of such challenges.
Haneyya further discussed with Aoun Lebanon’s Palestinian refugees calling for improving their living conditions and granting them their humanitarian rights.
The Lebanese president in turn welcomed the Hamas delegation reaffirming his country’s stances in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause.
Earlier Thursday a Hamas delegation headed by its chief met with Islamic Jihad Movmenet Secretary-General Ziyad al-Nakhalah in Beirut.
The two sides discussed the recent Palestinian developments mainly in Occupied Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque and the Israeli ongoing threats against Palestinians and their holy sites.
A senior Hamas delegation arrived in Lebanon last Tuesday headed by Hamas’s political bureau chief Ismail Haneyya.
