Hamas delegation meets with Egypt’s intelligence minister

Member of Hamas’s Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya said that the Movement’s delegation to Cairo has met with the Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel to discuss various issues.

Al-Hayya said in a statement that in-depth discussions were held on four main files including the latest political developments in the Palestinian cause the humanitarian situation in Gaza the reconciliation and Hamas-Egypt bilateral relations.

The delegation led by the head of Hamas’s Political Bureau Ismail Haneyya highlighted the new threats facing the Palestinian cause in view of the US latest decisions targeting Jerusalem and the refugees issue.

Al-Hayya added that the meeting also addressed the crisis plaguing every aspect of life in the besieged Gaza pointing out that Hamas’s delegation stressed the importance of finding a final solution to the Rafah crossing problem and making every possible effort to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza at all levels.

The Hamas official noted that there was an open discussion about bilateral relations during which the delegation affirmed that Egypt’s national security is of great importance to Hamas.

As for the reconciliation file Hamas stressed the need to proceed with the implementation of the Egypt-sponsored reconciliation agreement and not to surrender to any obstacles.

The Egyptian Minister affirmed that Egypt will continue to support the Palestinian people until the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and the return of all Palestinian refugees.

He also vowed to work to secure a regular opening of Rafah crossing in the next stage.

A senior Hamas delegation last Friday left the Gaza Strip to Cairo. Hamas said that the visit followed advance arrangements and consultations with Egypt on ways of easing the crisis hitting the enclave.
