Hamas denies Hebrew press report about cadres being trained in Iran

Saturday 24-February-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Fawzi Barhoum the Hamas spokesman in the Gaza Strip on Saturday denied Hebrew press reports that claimed Hamas activists were training in Iran while Fatah activists were training in Egypt.

The spokesman charged that such fabricated reports were meant to instigate clashes between the Fatah and Hamas factions and to re-ignite strife tension and infighting in the Palestinian street.

Barhoum told PIC that ever since the Makkah agreement was declared the Hebrew state and the American administration started charging Iran with supporting the Hamas Movement in a clear attempt to put hurdles before the formation of the unity government and to mobilize the world public opinion against lifting the siege imposed on the Palestinian people and its government.

Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth claimed that Hamas elements headed to Iran to undergo military training while Fatah elements headed to Egypt for the same purpose.

Barhoum affirmed that Hamas was keen on having good relations with Arab Islamic and European countries and never intervened in the internal affairs of any country.
