Hamas on Sunday slammed Lebanese parties for accusing the group of having ties with terrorist organizations.
A statement issued by Hamas in response to Lebanese reports accusing the group of supporting terrorist organizations denied such allegations.
Hamas said the reports make part of an ad hominem campaign launched against the Movement which serve “foreign agendas.”
Hamas added that the accusations dovetail Israeli smear tactics aiming to damage the reputation of anti-occupation leaders by propounding negative propaganda.
“Hamas has always striven to uphold security and stability in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon” Hamas statement read. “The accusations stand in sharp contrast to the standpoint adopted by Lebanon’s official authorities as regards Hamas’s active role in the face of underway attempts to destabilize security in and around Palestinian refugee camps.”
Hamas vowed to take legal steps against those standing behind underway ad hominem campaigns waged against the group and its leaders.
