Hamas denies applying for office in Amman

Thursday 26-October-2017

Hamas has denied claims that it had submitted an application to establish an office in the Jordanian capital—Amman.

Hamas’s Media Department Chief Rafat Merra said in a statement issued on Thursday evening that reports on the group’s attempts to open an office in Amman are counterfeit.

He added that the reports make part of ad hominem campaigns aiming to sever Hamas’s friendly ties with Jordan.

Reports have recently emerged on underway efforts by Hamas to launch an office in Amman following a phone call in which Hamas Chief Ismail Haneyya briefed the Jordanian King Abdullah II Bin al-Husain on the reconciliation process and called for propping up bilateral cooperation in favor of the Palestinian cause.
