GAZA (PIC)– The Hamas Movement has denied Hebrew press reports that its armed wing was supplying the Islamic Jihad Movement with locally made rockets and that it was training cadres in Iran.
Dr. Khalil Abu Laila one of the Hamas leaders said in a press statement on Sunday that the press report falls in line with the usual Israeli lies fabricated against the Palestinian factions.
The Qassam Brigades the armed wing of Hamas only train in Palestinian lands despite Hamas’ non-objection to its training abroad in any country to enable its elements confront the incessant Israeli incursions and attacks he underlined.
Abu Laila further denied similar Israeli fabrications on presence of a split within the Qassam Brigades over Hamas’ participation in the unity government pointing out that the Movement’s decisions are taken after consulting all its institutions. “The decisions are then binding to all Hamas members whether in the political or the military wings” he affirmed.
The Hebrew daily ‘Ha’aretz’ had quoted Israeli military sources as saying that the rockets fired by Islamic Jihad at Israeli settlements were encouraged and assisted by Hamas.
He said that Hamas supplied Jihad with rockets that could reach Ashkelon city north of Gaza Strip occupied in 1948 and was exerting incessant efforts to manufacture missiles in the West Bank.
For its part the armed wing of Jihad the Quds Brigades denied receiving rockets from Hamas adding that its own engineering unit had succeeded in upgrading those home made missiles and mortar shells.
