Hamas denounces dwarfing the Palestine question into one of crossings

Saturday 5-May-2007

NABLUS (PIC)– The Hamas Movement on Saturday denounced the new US plan that proposed easing Israeli restrictions on freedom of movement for Palestinians in return for halting resistance attacks on Israeli occupation targets.

A Hamas spokesman in the West Bank said that the plan dwarfed the Palestine issue into a humanitarian question related to freedom of crossing and economic needs coupled with a “Zionist security problem”.

He said in a press release that the Palestine issue is one of a people struggling to gain liberation and “It is a problem not solved by trial solutions that put the fate of an entire people at stake”.

“Resistance with all its sacrifices is the price for Palestinian freedom and full rights” he emphasized.

The spokesman addressed an invitation to the American administration in particular and to the western countries in general to get rid of their misinterpretation of the Palestine cause as a humanitarian issue and to consider it in its true and real focus mainly of being a cause of a people under occupation that is fighting for its freedom.

He also urged Washington to stop trying to divide Palestinian lines through supporting a certain party and championing the restoration of security coordination between PA security apparatuses and the Hebrew state.

The Movement finally asked the PA and PLO leaderships not to fall into the trap of those “test balloons” which Israel had already rejected expressing surprise at the statements by a number of PA officials who expressed readiness to implement the plan without a Palestinian unanimous stance regarding it and without even an Israeli acceptance of that plan.
