The Hamas Movement has condemned what it described as the criminal act that targeted Egyptian police personnel in the Sinai on Monday.
In a press release Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum offered his Movement’s condolences to the Egyptian people and their leadership stressing that such attacks are aimed at undermining Egypt’s security and stability and plunging it into a cycle of violence and killing.
At least 18 policemen were killed and others suffered injuries yesterday in an attack on a security convoy in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Militants detonated a roadside bomb near the town of el-Arish reportedly destroying three armored vehicles and a fourth with signal-jamming equipment.
They then opened fire with machine guns at survivors of the blast.
