The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced the new Israeli attack on Syria at dawn Friday calling it “another link in the chain of Israeli crimes against the Arab nation.”
In press remarks on Friday Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said that such Israeli military escalation was “encouraged by attempts of some parties to integrate the occupation state into the region especially after US president Joe Biden’s visit to the Middle East and Israeli army leaders’ visits to some Arab countries.”
Spokesman Qasem added that Israel’s persistence in targeting the Arab nation must be met with a unified Arab position to repel and curb its aggression.
Syrian state media reported on Friday that the Israeli occupation state launched airstrikes on sites around Damascus killing eight people including three soldiers wounding seven others and causing material damage.
The occupation state had carried out many airstrikes on targets inside government-controlled parts of Syria over the past decade of its civil war but rarely acknowledged responsibility for such attacks.
Last June Israeli airstrikes temporarily put Damascus International Airport out of commission.
