Hamas deputies urge free world to help free PLC speaker

Wednesday 11-April-2007

NABLUS (PIC)– Palestinian lawmakers from the change and reform bloc of Hamas Movement made appeals to the free world and legal and human rights organizations to seriously step in and pressure the IOA into releasing Dr. Aziz Dwaik the PLC speaker.

According to documented reports from legal institutions catering for prisoners Dwaik who was kidnapped at the hands of the IOF troops along with tens of Hamas deputies last June is in bad health condition in jail.

“The IOF arrest of the symbol of Palestinian legitimacy and the second man in the PA hierarchy constitutes an unprecedented violation of international laws and conventions which obviously indicates that the IOA is trampling on those laws”.

They also directed their appeal to Arab and Muslim countries urging them to take a united and firm stand to enforce the immediate and unconditional release of Dwaik and his 41 kidnapped colleagues.

On Monday Mohammed Al-Abed of the Nafha society that caters for the prisoners’ affairs visited the PLC speaker in his detention at the Megiddo prison and revealed that the speaker is suffering of severe pains in the left side of his body that made him unable to stand up.

For his part Hamas’ deputy Sheikh Hamid Al-Beitawi called on the international community to respect the diplomatic immunity of Palestinian MPs being elected figures and to work for the immediate release of the kidnapped Palestinian legislators.

He also invited captors of IOF corporal Gilad Shalit not to compromise their demands for swapping the Israeli POW with tens of hundreds of Palestinian captive including women children and elderly captives among other prisoners.

Earlier PA premier Ismail Haneyya affirmed that the ball is in the Israeli court as far as the swap deal is concerned” stressing that the Israeli occupation government must heed “human conditions” set forth by Shalit’s captors if it indeed wants its soldier back.
