Gunmen at dawn Sunday opened fire at the house and car of Palestinian lawmaker Azzam Salhab in al-Khalil city causing material damage to them.
Local sources said that MP Salhab was in his house when the shooting attack happened.
The Hamas Movement strongly denounced the attack and held the Palestinian Authority leadership and its security forces fully responsible for it.
In a statement Hamas said that such crime took place after de facto PA chief Mahmoud Abbas took an unconstitutional step recently and decided to dissolve the Palestinian Legislative Council.
It also pointed to the ongoing incitement and persecution campaigns its officials lawmakers and members are exposed to by the PA and its security forces in the West Bank.
It was not the first time Hamas leaders and MPs in the West Bank were targeted by gunmen believed to be from the PA security forces.
