Hamas leader: Badres village prototype of anti-occupation resistance

Sunday 8-January-2017

Hamas leader in Jericho Sheikh Shaker Amara hailed the Palestinians of Ramallah’s western town of Badres for standing their ground to the Israeli demolition policy and settlement schemes.

Speaking in a press release Amara said the courage plucked up by the Palestinian residents of Badres village in the face of the heavily-armed Israeli jeeps and bulldozers forced the Israelis to backtrack from the area empty-handed.

“What has taken place in Badres village teaches us that unity is our hope. Unity makes part of our humanitarian and religious mission. It is the only means to restore our infringed rights and resist the Israeli occupation” said the Hamas leader.

He added that political solutions and the cry-for-help policy will neither restore Palestinian rights nor bring Israeli crimes to a halt.

Over recent days residents of the Palestinian village of Badres in the central West Bank province of Ramallah gathered outside a Palestine home which was about to be knocked down by the Israeli occupation army under the pretext of unlicensed construction and prevented its demolition.
