NABLUS (PIC)– Ahmed Doula the Hamas political leader in the West Bank has been on hunger strike for 8 days now protesting his continued incarceration in PA jails and cruel treatment his wife said.
The wife explained that Doula has been on hunger strike since last Sunday in protest against his unjustified detention and against the cruel interrogation methods.
She said that her husband has been subjected to harsh physical and psychological interrogation adding that interrogators deal with him in a savage manner and deliberately insult him. Doula’s health condition has greatly worsened especially after the hunger strike she elaborated.
The wife said that PA security apparatuses were blocking family and human rights visits to Doula and even bars his lawyer from visiting him. Doula is allowed to see his lawyer only in court for a few minute she noted adding that she learnt that he would appear in court on Sunday.
Doula the PA interior undersecretary and former education director in Nablus district was kidnapped on 2/7/2007 after an official meeting between Hamas leaders and a number of security commanders in Junaid prison in Nablus city. However he was released after waging a 19-day hunger strike. The PA security apparatuses abducted Doula anew on 26/7 and he was since then held in jail and on 28/8 he was transferred to the Beitonia prison in Ramallah.
