Hamas mourns martyr Saadiya Matar blames Israel for her death

The Hamas Movement has mourned Palestinian martyr Saadiya Matar who passed away on Saturday in an Israeli jail and held the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for her death.

In a statement on Saturday senior Hamas official Zaher Jabbarin said that Matar died as a result of her exposure to brutal beating by Israeli soldiers near the Ibrahimi Mosque a few months ago.

Jabbarin added that Matar had also suffered from medical neglect and harsh incarceration conditions during her presence in Damon jail.

“The pure spirit of Matar who was loyal to her religion and homeland will remain a curse haunting the occupation and a fuel that powers the resistance and our people’s uprising” the Hamas official underscored.

According to Asra Media Office 68-year-old Saadiya Matar a resident of Idhna town in al-Khalil died during her morning stroll in the prison yard on Saturday.

Matar a mother of four sons and four daughters was kidnaped by the Israeli occupation forces on December 18 2021 after she was assaulted near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Old City of al-Khalil.

Meanwhile the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails on Saturday closed their sections and refused to take meals in mourning for martyr Saadiya Matar according to a statement released by the Palestinian Captive Movement.

The Captive Movement held the Israeli occupation state and its prison service fully responsible for Matar’s death affirming that she died as a result of her exposure to medical neglect in Damon jail.

“Matar had suffered from multiple health issues that were weighed down by the tragic incarceration conditions” the Captive Movement said.
