Hamas offers condolences over capsized migrant boat off Syria

The Hamas Movement has extended its sincere condolences over the sinking of a boat off the Syrian city of Tartus which killed dozens of Palestinians Lebanese and Syrians and injured several others.

In a press statement on Friday the Movement offered its condolences to the Palestinian people especially the refugees in Lebanon’s Nahr al-Bared and Shatila refugee camps mourning the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

The latest available number of casualties stands at 81 while the number of people rescued increased to 19 according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

15 of bodies found were identified as residents of the Nahr al-Bared refugee camp while search operations for others are still ongoing.

According to local sources a small boat carrying around 150 people including tens of Palestinians had capsized after facing technical problems off the Syrian city of Tartus.
