The Hamas Movement on Tuesday mounted a voluntary clean-up initiative at the Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah city in central Gaza after the cleaning company hired to provide services for the facility withdrew its workers for failure to pay it.
The campaign was aimed to clean up dirty sections and corridors of the hospital and remove piles of trash accumulated there.
The cleaning crisis in Gaza hospitals came to the surface again after the Palestinian government failed to pay the service providers for five months.
Hamas official Bilal al-Salahi said that dozens of young volunteers participated in the campaign to provide a healthy and clean environment for patients.
A similar initiative was conducted on the same day by the council of Khan Younis families at Nasser Hospital which suffered from the same problem.
