Hamas rejects Abbas’s order on resistance factions

Thursday 28-June-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Hamas Movement has unequivocally rejected PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’s edict of dissolving all armed wings of the Palestinian resistance factions saying it is not Abbas’s right to issue such an edict while the Palestinian people are still under occupation.

“Armed wings of Palestinian resistance factions didn’t wait for Abbas’s permission to be established and to start resistance against the occupation and thus no one has the right to disband those armed wings before the Israeli occupation of Palestine is over” the Movement affirmed in a statement it issued on Wednesday in reaction to the decree. A copy of the statement was obtained by the PIC.

It also urged other resistance factions to shrug off the edict and called on them to consolidate their ranks on the path of resistance and liberation in order to thwart the conspiracies concocted against legitimate resistance in Palestine.

Moreover the Movement highlighted that Abbas’s edict harmonized with the vicious IOF troops’ military campaigns in Gaza Strip and the West Bank Wednesday where at least 13 Palestinian citizens including children were killed and more than 50 others were wounded many in critical condition.

Abbas had earlier tagged as “armed militias” the Palestinian resistance factions but Hamas and other factions rejected such a description saying it is unfamiliar with Palestinian culture and national customs.

In addition Hamas condemned the ongoing arrest and torture campaigns against Hamas’s cadres at the hands of Abbas’s forces in the West Bank describing such practices as “shame” on the face of the one ordering or implementing them.

Furthermore the Movement called on Palestinian citizens to pull their children out of the streets in order not to hamper the resistance fighters’ operations explaining that IOF troops don’t differentiate between children and fighters during war.

Finally Hamas urged Arab and Muslim leaders as well as the international community to bridle the ongoing IOF massacres against Palestinian citizens vowing at the same time that blood of the martyrs will not go in vain and that at the end victory will be for the Palestinian resistance.

For his part Abu Obaida the spokesman of Hamas’s armed wing the Qassam Brigades affirmed that Abbas’s edict “doesn’t worth the ink it was written with”.

The Islamic Jihad also rejected the edict and described it as “futile” because it called on the Palestinian people to remain arms folded while IOF troops continue killing them and occupying their lands.

Dawood Abu Shehab the spokesman of the Movement in Gaza Strip affirmed that the entire Palestinian people regardless of their political affiliations were targets for Israel asserting that Israel doesn’t discriminate between Fatah Hamas or the Islamic Jihad among other Palestinian factions.

Hence he invited all armed formations of the Palestinian resistance factions to prepare themselves for a new round of armed confrontation with the “Zionist enemy that knows no language but the language of force”.
