Hamas chief in Gaza Yehya al-Sinwar on Thursday congratulated the Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas on the reconciliation deal struck earlier in the day between Fatah and Hamas.
Reaching out to Abbas by phone al-Sinwar passed on good wishes to Abbas hours after Fatah and Hamas signed a consensus agreement in Cairo.
The unity accord was struck in the presence of Egypt’s General Intelligence Chief Khaled Fawzi following a round of talks which started on Tuesday between Fatah and Hamas.
